Papamoa Beach Renovation
The Papamoa Beach home renovation was a rewarding project for the team at Straight Up Builders. Jo and Rob, the homeowners, lived on-site and worked on the renovation. While this setup can be challenging for many builder-client relationships, they made it easy. Jo kept the site tidy and organised, and Rob handled his own tasks and helped the team out when he could. Their positive attitude and respectful approach to teamwork meant the site was always ready for us. By the end of the project, we’d formed a great friendship and still catch up regularly.
Most large-scale home renovations come with unknown challenges, no matter the builder, as it’s impossible to know what lies beneath the surface until we start stripping things back. This project itself came with some challenges, but working with good designers and engineers made the process a lot easier. Adding another story to an older home required careful alignment to keep the new doors and full-height windows flush at every level. Despite the old house being quite out of level we tackled each step methodically, ensuring every detail was perfect.
The result was a beautifully transformed home that Jo and Rob absolutely love. Jo calls it her sanctuary, and we’re proud to say there’s nothing we’d change. Projects like this remind us why we love what we do—delivering quality work while building lasting relationships.
