Tauranga New Build
We worked closely with Michelle and Scott to build their new architectural home in Minden, near Bethlehem in Tauranga. This project was particularly memorable for Dave because it was the first build he led as a foreman at Straight Up Builders. The owner, Scott, is the architect at Radley Architecture. He designed their home to reflect their active lifestyle and love for the outdoors.
Special features of this architectural build included, scissor trusses and raked ceilings featured with Hardie Groove. The gables were constructed with recycled red bricks salvaged from the Christchurch earthquakes, giving the home a unique and sustainable character.
While the home is modest in size, the layout cleverly includes two distinct wings. One wing is dedicated to the kids with their bedrooms and bathroom, and the other wing offers a quieter space for the adults. The wings are separated by a large glass front door that pivots open. On the opposite side of the front door, a breathtaking forest view is visible through expansive glass windows.
The Straight Up Builders team also built a spacious deck with a custom macrocarpa pergola, which complements the modern joinery and flush entry doors. Michelle, Scott and the kids lived on site while preparing and during the build, so it was very rewarding to bring their vision to life for them and their family.
